Editorial revamp for Jetstar’s in-flight magazine

The monthly in-flight magazine for Jetstar Airways played a crucial role in connecting with passengers through travel, lifestyle, and entertainment content. I worked exclusively on relaunching the print version, which saw a 10% increase in readership within its first 6 months.

What I did

During my time on Jetstar, I designed an average of 60 pages per issue (18 issues in total) and commissioned ~20 illustrations.

Jetstar Magazine was published by custom publisher, Medium Rare Content Agency. It transformed the publication with a multichannel content strategy that integrated print, digital, and in-flight experiences. The agency revitalised the magazine to address declining readership and lack of digital presence.

As part of the redesign, I worked alongside the creative and editorial teams to revamp the magazine's print edition, creating fresh layouts and updated features that resonated with passengers. The new design focused on enhanced readability and visual appeal, ensuring that content like travel stories, destination features, and lifestyle articles would engage and inspire readers during their flight.

The magazine saw a 10% increase in readership within the first six months of its relaunch, and ended 2020 with 198,000 monthly readers. It contributed to increased media revenue and saw strong engagement in 2019 with 97% of readers reporting feeling engaged with the content. It also won 3 publishing awards—Custom Publication of the Year (2019), Best Transportation Publication (2020), and Best Hospitality/Travel Publication (2020).
